Willow (Year 1)

Willow Class

Hello and welcome to Willow Class!

My name is Miss Brunt and I am the Year 1 class teacher.

We are lucky to have the support of a fantastic team of Teaching Assistants, Mrs Compton, Miss Cox, Mrs Boardman and Mrs Imm.  Together, we work hard to ensure that our class is a happy, warm and welcoming place, celebrating each child's successes and building resilience in learning.  We have a stimulating and varied curriculum, and we are really excited for all adventures in learning we will have this year!

I really enjoy planning for lessons - especially creating the resources and thinking about all the songs we can learn in worship time!  My favourite lessons to teach are RE, Literacy, History, Art and DT - and I am really enjoying teaching Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics!

In my spare time I enjoy painting and drawing, listening to music, reading, watching films and being with my family (especially my nephews and niece!), walking my dogs or just chilling with a nice, warm mug of Ribena.  My favourite books to read are the Hairy Maclary series, the Harry Potter books,  The Lord of the Rings and anything with a bit of fantasy in it.  I have two dogs - Bo and Bean, a cat named Cleo, a bearded dragon named Bay and a leopard gecko called Beni.  One day, I hope to visit the Scottish Highlands in an EV Camper Van with Bo and Bean.

Keep an eye out for a note from my teacher! When Miss Brunt or Miss Lane spots your child doing something which reflects our school values or aspires to achieve in their personal learning journey!

Our School Values

Race around the World Reading Challenge! Every time you read for pleasure (at home - parents, please write in your child's reading record - or in school) we will move your name along the Reading Race Track. When you reach the finish line, you'll earn a certificate! Let's see how many time you can reach his head in one term! Good Luck!

These characters will be helping us with on our maths journey. Keep your eyes peeled for them!

Writing Creatively

Look out for examples of our fantastic creative writing on this page! Each week, we will let our imaginations run riot as we tell stories, report on fantastical news and spin amazing tales of adventure and exploration!

Homework! Go to Purple Mash and Numbots for your homework - launched every Saturday for the following week!
