Enrichment, Culture, Broadening

Enrichment, Culture, Broadening

Our school shapes our curriculum so that it offers a wealth of exciting and often brand-new experiences which broaden horizons and open doors of opportunities and aspiration for all of our children.

Our enrichment activities and experiences are provided by skilled practitioners who know the children well and have high aspirations for their learning and development. These include participating in Young Voices, individual music tuition, sports clubs, a weekly gardening project and club, activities and regular visits to our feeder secondary school. Our student council meet regularly to put plans together for enrichments activities for the whole school to participate in.

Cultural capital and enrichment are not necessarily given or taught, rather, they are a key principle of our curriculum, culture and ethos.

Our school trips and visitors are planned carefully to support our children in acquiring an awareness of the world around them, an understanding of how life works and a rich vocabulary to explain it.  Visits link closely to the curriculum being taught and include trips to museums, galleries and other areas outside of the Forest of Dean.

Trips and visitors are carefully planned so that every child at Bream C of E has the opportunity to experience a broad range of activities. These include residentials, one as a local trip to Viney Hill and a trip to France. This provides a unique experience, allowing the children to broaden their cultural horizons and put into practise the French learned throughout KS2. Children experience visiting a local town, French market, beaches as well as participating in a range of outdoor/adventure activities.
